Acer released Ryzen Powered Aspire GX along with Aspire & Swift Notebooks


Acer Aspire GX281, which was announced during the New York Press Conference a while ago is now in Malaysia. What makes it interesting is the fact that it’s powered by AMD’s Ryzen 1700X Processor under the hood. It also comes with a AMD Radeon RX 480 with 4GB GDDR5 which supports HDMI, 3 DisplayPort, DVD SuperMultiplus Writer). We get 8GB DDR4 RAM which can be upgraded to 32GB X 2). And under the storage department, we get a 256GB M.2 SSD along with a 1TB 3.5-inch HDD with 7200 RPM.



For networking, we get a 801.11 a/b/g/n/ac WiFi with Gigabit Ethernet and also Bluetooth 4.0. Now for the ports, on the front we get 1 USB 3.1 Type C (Gen 1), 1 USB 3.1 Type a (Gen 1), SD Card Reader and two audio jacks. On the back, we have 2 USB 3.1 (Gen 2), 4 USB 2.0 ports, 3 Audio Jack and One LAN port.

When it comes to a PC like this, you might be wondering whether it has expansion slots. And it does. It has 1 PCIe Express lane, 1 M.2 for SSD and another M.2 for WLAN.

It comes with 3 Year of Local Onsite Warranty and comes at a price of RM 5,499 including 6% GST which is a really good price considering the specification and the upgradability.


They also announced their Acer Swift 1, which is their super thin and light profile notebook. It comes with a 13.3” 1080 Display and runs a Intel Pentium Quad-Core N4200 with 4GB of DDR3L on board. You get a 128GB SSD. And the battery is 3770 mAh, which Acer claims that it will last up to 10 hours. Has a 2X2 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with MIMO and Bluetooth 4.0.


For a thin laptop, it features a lot of ports. It has an SD Card reader, 2 USB 3.0 where one of the port allows you to charge, even when the laptop is turned off, 1 USB C 2.0, an Headphone Jack and a HDMI port. It also features a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security. It comes with 2 Years of Local Warranty and will be sold for RM 2,199.

Both the Aspire GX281 and the Swift 1 is available at select Acer authorized resellers.

Last but not least, they’ve also refreshed their Acer Aspire Notebook lineup with some decent upgrade in specification as well.



The Aspire 3 comes with AMD A4 dual-core along with Radeon R4 graphics. Supports up to 12GB of DDR4. Has a 500GB HDD and comes with 4810 mAh battery. Also supports 802.11 ac WiFi Band and Bluetooth 4.0. It will be retailed around RM 1,499.


For those who fancies a Intel powered, they also have one. It runs a Intel Celeron dual-core N3350 and for graphics we get Intel HD Graphics along with 4GB Onboard DDR3 RAM. It comes in 15.6” display and 14” display those who wants a smaller one. The 14” will go for RM 1,339 and the 15.6” will go for RM 1,439.


The Aspire 5 comes in two different variant in terms of processor and graphics. One comes with the latest Intel Core i5 7th Generation processor along with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 and the other one packs a AMD A12 Quad-Core processor with AMD Radeon RX540. Both comes with 4GB DDR4 RAM and is available for upgrade upto 16GB DDR4.


You don’t have to worry about storage as it comes with 1TB HDD. A 3220 mAh battery. Supports 802.11 ac band with the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0. The i5 variant will go on sale for RM 2,639 whereas the AMD variant will go for RM 2,549.
