Samsung Galaxy J1: Unboxing and First Impression

Hey folks. Today, I have something that I’ve been using as a daily driver at the moment. Samsung has a bunch of series in the consumer market, like the S Series, Note Series and More. But today we are looking at a device from the J Series. It’s an entry level device that doesn’t break your bank. This is the Unboxing & First Impression of Samsung Galaxy J1. Let’s not waste any time and jump in!

Unboxing:

On the front, we have “Samsung Galaxy J1” printed in that grey color tone. I’m kinda in love with this font. Anyways, we have the e Warranty sticker on the top right.

We have a clean side where there’s nothing written on the box. And on the back of the box, we have some of the specifications that I’ll be going through in a bit. Finally on the bottom of the device, we have the IMEI Number and so on. The J1 we will be taking a look at is gold in color.

As you open up the box, you’ll see the phone itself sitting on the top. We’ll get back to that in a bit. After you lift the flap, you’ll see the back cover for the phone along with the Instruction manuals. Moving on.

We can see three things. First, is the charger that let’s you charge the device. (duh) next up, you get a decent pair of headphones to listen and take calls and finally, the battery that gives life to the device itself.

Let’s take a look at the phone itself.

The moment you look at it, the phone has this new Window design which kinda looks nice. Below that we get the capactive button and a physical home button. Along with the display and that black window design, you’ll see the Samsung branding up top with the camera and sensors.

The volume rockers are located on the left side of the device and the power button to the right. We still have the holy grail a.k.a headphone jack on the device and on the bottom, it has the micro USB port.

Finally, when you look at the back of the device, you’ll see the camera and a mono tone flash. The speaker is located on the top beside the camera just like their previous Samsung devices look. Again you have the Samsung branding and the Duos logo at the bottom.

First Impression:

Here’s some stuff I like about the device. The new window design is actually nice to the touch. Here’s why. It actually creates an illusion of using a huge screen display instead of realizing that it’s actually 4.5”. Nicely done. Talk about the display, it is absolutely stunning. Honestly, I thought that for a entry level device like this, they will be using a WVGA display but instead they went for a Super AMOLED WVGA Display. The color is vibrant.

The volume rockers, power button and the home button are clicky and responsive. One thing I miss is that Haptic feedback when you tap the back and recent task button. I’ll have to check the settings for that.

The design is simple and kinda thick. Good thing is that it fits right in your hands and the screen is definitely reachable. The gold color on the device is subtle and not that striking. I personally love a phone that’s black, blue or matte red in color. But gold is okay.

And that was the Unboxing and First Impression on Samsung Galaxy J1. I will be using this phone as my daily driver for the moment and will be giving my full review on it anytime soon, so Like my Facebook page, Follow me on my social network for more and I will catch you guys in the next one.
