Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra: Phablet on Steroids - First impression
Few days back, Asus had their Zenvolution event at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. And I attended their event to check out all of their new devices that they launched here in Malaysia. From Zenfones and all the way to Transformers Pro… I got the chance to try out all the Zenfone devices but my personal favorite would be the Zenfone 3 Ultra!
Here’s my thoughts on the Zenfone 3 Ultra. Let’s not waste any time and get right into it.
As we look on the front, we have a huge display. On top of it, we have the Earpiece, sensors and the camera. Below the screen, we have the physical buttons including the fingerprint sensor which also acts as a home button.
Onto the right side, we have the lock button. And to the other side, we have the SIM tray. Back of the device, we can find the Camera with dual tone flash and Laser AF, the volume rocker and the Asus Zenfone name. Don’t worry, the phone still have a headphone jack.
Specifications:
Well, this phone runs a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 clocked in at 1.8 Ghz and an Adreno 510 GPU. The device has RAM upto 4GB and 64GB ROM. 6.8” FHD Display. 8MP f/2.0 with 85 degree wide front facing camera and on the back we have a 23MP Sony IMX 318 sensor with an f/2.0. There’s a 6 piece Largan lens on it. It has 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization and 3-axis Electronic Image Stabilization which helps in taking photos and videos. Other cool stuff in the camera department includes PDAF, Laser AF, Dual LED Flash and 4K Recording.
When it comes to Wireless and Connectivity, it has a 802.11 ac, supports LTE. It has Bluetooth 4.2, USB type C and finally a fingerprint sensor. 4600 mAh non removable battery, Dual Speakers and Hi Res Audio 192kHz / 24-bit chipset.
So, here’s my impression on the device.
When you hold it in your hand, I have to tell you it’s friggin’ humongous.. The color on the display pops! Vibrant, has a beautiful contrast and beautiful. You won’t take your eyes off… The phone is super duper thin (6.8mm) and it’s like holding a Whittaker’s chocolate bar. It does feel premium with that glass front on that metal body with that chamfered edges. Beautiful.
The lock button is located at a convenient place and the volume rocker is located at the back. Here’s why. This does not only help you to reach the button easier but also … let’s say if the volume rocker is located on the sides. By the time you adjust your hand to press the vol +/-, there’s a chance that the phone will slip from your hand fall.
I am in love with the device because it’s definitely a premium phablet which everyone would love. Also it’s spec’d out. It’s not easy to find a Phablet in the market which does everything great. And that’s where Zenfone 3 Ultra comes in. With a great camera sensor, very fast fingerprint reader, a gorgeous display in a beautifully crafted device. This phablet is definitely on steroids. Haha.
If I had the chance to try out the device and review it, I will definitely give you guys my full opinion on it. Fingers crossed. As always, thank you so much for reading this and I will definitely catch you guys with another post real soon! :)
